Bill Duffy is a
master sculptor with over 30
years of experience.
His works can be seen in
public and private
collections around the
world. Among his many
accomplishments are a
national monument sculpture
that is the centerpiece of a
museum in Clinton,
Tennessee,
portrait statues of
congressmen, and some of
the most awesome public art
displays ever created.
He has an enormous studio in
Baltimore with every machine
and tool imaginable.
He has several apprentice
sculptors that work with him
and each has at least 15
years of experience.
He is devoted to his wife
Farah of 15 years. He
is a wonderful person and we
are proud to call him a
friend and business partner.
He is represented
exclusively by
The Large Art Company.
You
could say that Bill was a
child prodigy. Born
in Cambridge, Massachusetts
in 1953, Bill spent
his childhood years in rural
New England. His
teachers recognized his
drawing and sculpting
talents when he was only 8
or 9 years old and sought
out additional resources for
him that would allow him to
maximize his potential.
He sold his first commission
sculpture at the age of 14.
Because of his
early training under the
tutelage of Mrs. Elinor
Marvin in the Burlington,
Massachusetts school system;
he was accelerated into a
scholarship program at the
School of the Museum of Fine
Arts in Boston. At the
Museum School Duffy
completed his undergraduate
diploma in Fine Arts, with a
concentration in figurative
sculpture and drawing.
Subsequently, he entered the
Johnson
Atelier Technical
Institute of Sculpture in
Princeton, New Jersey, where
he completed a three-year
internship in
state-of-the-art foundry techniques. The experiences
gained at the Johnson
Atelier have prepared Duffy
to direct and execute all
phases of design,
fabrication, and
installation of his
large-scale public art
projects. In 1983, Duffy
received an MFA from
University of Maryland at
College Park.
Duffy is widely recognized
for his intricately designed
sculpture compositions for a
variety of public and
private collections. Duffy
is increasingly involved in
the planning of landscape
around his work, including
water as an element in his
compositions. He works most
often in bronze, stainless
steel and granite to create
durable works designed to
withstand time, weather and
human contact.
In 2004,
Bill joined forces with The
Large Art Company, one of
the most respected bronze
sculpture companies in the
United States.
